Before Lucas decided to re-invent his whole holy trilogy by adding unnecessary scenes and completely deleting others and transplanting new actors over old, he had the perfect movie series for any generation. THIS is that set. Forget the special editions, there's nothing special about them. That's why dvd's come with SUPPLEMENTS, George. Episodes 1 and 2 were pointless, nonsensical and completely unengaging. Does he really need to fill every ounce of background with movement? We get that you love computers George, but how about some plot and interesting characters like we used to get? Maybe this is why EMPIRE and JEDI were handed over to others to film, Lucas is actually a hack who happened to get lucky once. On the verge of Episode 3 coming out it looks to get no better. I prefer to retain the mystery and intrigue and the sheer might of the original and the best trilogy. Forget The Episode Titles. I want STAR WARS, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and RETURN OF THE JEDI as they were intended. This is what people should have in their collection, for they shall never be released again now that Lucas has gone absolutely insane. Or until he needs a new wing on the Ranch. The prophecy is true. "Hey kids, have a dollar in your pocket? George Lucas wants it!"
User rating: 5Best movies made in the whole series....
These were the true movies, in my opinion, not the special editions. These were remastered in 1995, for sound and picture quality. George Lucas should've left them alone. He's turning his movies into junk with his constant digital scene adding.
User rating: 5The Real STAR WARS
Unlike the new Star Wars movies (from the older stories)these original movies, before they were 'remastered', had true 'spirit' or 'heart' or whatever - they were REAL. The 'special effects' (damn good for that time, if u care) weren't what made the movies such awesome adventures. It was a combination of things - a yearning to live the impeccable warrior life of a Jedi, to battle a terrible evil empire, to avenge the deaths of friends, family & unknown innocents, to live in the beautiful forests of Endor with the strange, primitive creatures called 'Ewoks', to bravely enter into the unkown - if you do not understand, all I can say is what a pity. The pathetic attempts at humour found in the new movies were not in these original movies - they were not needed.
When I was growing up, Star Wars, like Conan & Monkey Magic (the real life series not the cartoon), inpires me. Lots.
